MEET THE STAFF!

Lawrence Baum D.V.M.
Dr. Larry Baum is a 1963 graduate of Hamilton Taft High School and a 1969 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He joined Drs. Frank Gluhm, Sr., and Jr., in practice at the Dixie Animal Clinic in 1970, and he acquired the practice in 1980. Dr. Baum is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Association, and the Butler-Warren Counties Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a member of the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Baum's interest in animals began during childhood and continues to this day. He is a knowledgeable aquarist and a member of the International Betta Congress Hall of Fame. Photographs of his exhibition Bettas appear in several Betta books, and one appeared in the inaugural issue of Freshwater & Marine Aquarium. He enjoys raising a wide variety of exotic finches, and a few are always on display in the office where they have become a popular attraction for our clients and their children. Some of the few remaining violet-ear waxbills in the United States were born and raised at Dixie Animal Clinic.
Dr. Baum and his wife, Linda, live on a farm in Morgan Township with their horses, cat, and Shetland Sheepdogs. Their two sons, Michael and Mark, are grown and have families of their own. Their Shetland Sheepdogs are collectively known as Kingsland Shelties, and they occasionally exhibit them. However, first and foremost, they are their pets. Dr. Baum feels very fortunate to have been able to pursue a veterinary career. It has allowed him to spend his life doing something that he truly loves, and he looks forward to many more years of practice.
